Instagram Recap

August 26, 2016

I love this top for it’s adorable front criss-cross detail and open back! The sleeves are a bit longer too, making it a great top for transitioning into fall as well. It’s under $40 and comes in 5 different colors, including this cute gray stripe color!

Shop the Look:

This t-shirt dress is AMAZE and is something that I am so happy I ordered. I love it so much that I am tempted to buy another for back-up when I wear this one out! It’s super affordable (under $40) and comes in a few other colors, including this black & white stripe color. I ordered mine in a tall, which hits just above my knees and is the perfect length for work!

Shop the Look:

If you’ve been following my Instagram for a while, you’ll already know that these ankle booties are my ultimate fave! Now that summer is winding down, they are officially back in action. I am so happy with how well they have held up the past year and a half;  honestly, I wore them at least 3-4x a week last fall/winter/spring, and they are still in great shape! I do have to use a suede brush every once in a while to clean them up a bit, but afterwards, they are pretty much as good as new!

Shop the Look:

You can’t see the too much detail of this top yet, but it’s a short sleeve button-up and I’m obsessed. In fact, I’ve been super into any short sleeve button-up shirt lately. They are just so cute! I like how they are a boyish, yet chic. (And so comfortable!) I just picked up the one I’m wearing and a plaid one recently at Nordstrom Rack. Also, My cropped blush pants are on clearance in stores at Target (sold out online) — snag them while you still can!

Shop the Look:

I have been seeing the comeback of neck scarves all over pinterest and blogs, so I decided to try it out myself! Personally, I think it looks adorable and sophisticated. I know it’s kind of a bold statement, but I love it! People are usually hesitant to try out new trends, but trust me: it won’t be long until everyone else hops on the bandwagon! I picked up this exact scarf at American Eagle, but I linked up lots of options in the widget below.

Shop the Look:

I was given the opportunity to try out FabFitFun and share what I received on Instagram, and it’s amazing! You get a full box of seasonal full-size goodies, and you’ll feel like it’s your birthday. Each item is either Fab (typically makeup or skincare), Fit (something fitness-related) or Fun (like these popsicle molds!). Get $10 off your first box with code ‘STYLE10‘! #FFFpartner

Shop the Look:

This knit vest is going to be gold when it gets colder. It’s warm, stylish and a great layering piece. I can’t wait to wear it over tunics, flannels and blouses! It also comes in burgundy and black.

Shop the Look:

I blogged this pom-pom off-the-shoulder top back in early spring, and it is still one of my faves! And these wedges are the bees knees.

Shop the Look:

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I re-grammed this image last week, because this cozy top is on major sale! This gray color is now out of stock, but it’s still available in black and ivory. Sizes are running out quick, so act fast!

Shop the Look:

Fave v-neck tee, ripped jeans and rose. Give me these 3 things and I’m one happy camper.

Shop the Look:

The ultimate maxi dress in the prettiest marsala color. It’s going to transition so well into fall! Soon I’ll be layering it with a denim jacket, utility jacket or a cozy cardigan.

Shop the Look:

I wore this on my first day of work on Monday. 🙂 I stayed comfortable, thanks to this roomy peplum tee!

Shop the Look:

How cute is this open-back workout tank? And the strappy striped sports bra underneath? The look & quality of these pieces remind me of Lululemon, but for a fraction of the price! Both the top and the sports bra are $20 each, and you may be able to catch them on sale, too. 🙂

Shop the Look:

Happy FRI-YAY! I figured it was time for a much overdue Instagram Recap. 🙂 A ton of my posts include items that are recent purchases or on sale!

This weekend will be pretty relaxing for us, but I do have a bestie’s bridal shower on Saturday! I also hope to do some blog shoots with T. 🙂 Have a fabulous weekend!

Fall 2016 Wardrobe Essentials

August 22, 2016

It’s time to gear up and get those Fall 2016 Wardrobe Essentials ready! I love refreshing my wardrobe and preparing for the colder seasons that are near. 🙂 After much thought of what my absolute essentials are and what I wear the most during this season, I was to able to round up the most essential items that will work for any girl’s fall wardrobe!

I typically go for tops that are versatile and that I can layer as the weather cools down. This means neutral, solid colored or striped tops. I am a sucker for stripes, and they are also easily layered! A striped tunic (solid colored tunics are also great), white tee, flannel shirt, chambray shirt and a cozy cowl neck/turtleneck sweater are all you need! Each top works and looks seamlessly under your outerwear pieces. 🙂

As far as bottoms go, invest in a nice pair of dark-wash jeans (just bought these, and they are so comfy!), medium-wash distressed jeans, a comfy black pair stretchy jeans/pants and a “fall” colored pair of pants (like olive or maroon). I own each type of these bottoms, and they get a ton of wear. Not just in the fall or winter, but year-round, too!

Your outerwear will become your second skin in the fall/winter time, especially if you are like me and live in the midwest! My outerwear essentials include a utility jacket (olive, gray or navy), puffer vest (THIS one is my all-time fave), knit cardigan and a leather jacket. All of these are your layering best friends!

Shoes are one of the biggest investments you should make in your closet. You want shoes that are durable and last, are comfortable and keep your tootsies warm! Ankle booties are my favorite to wear during this time, but I also like switching it up with lace-up flats (on warmer days), riding boots and, of course, rain boots for the rain/snow. One of the best parts of spending a little more on your footwear, is that they will last for years to come! My Hunters, Sam Edelman Petty booties and Frye boots are still in tip-top shape, even though I’ve worn them a thousand times!

Accessories are the funnest part about styling outfits. They complete your outfit, and can complete transform your look! A felt hat, scarf, pearl studs, and a nice tote (for carrying books, a laptop or work documents) are my fall accessory essentials.

Fall outfits are my absolute favorite to style, and with these fall wardrobe essentials that you can mix & match, you have multiple outfit possibilities!

This weekend was chalk full of errands, shopping and girl time. Tom had one of his best friend’s bachelor party, so I had the house to myself! I made some nice, non-rushed trips to Hobby Lobby, HomeGoods, Nordstrom, Trader Joes and Home Depot! I was kind of all over the place, lol! But I found some new pieces for our home (finally a piece of art above our couch!), some new faux flowers for our living room, a planter for the fiddle leaf fig I just bought (super excited about!!), and lots groceries! Running errands with Tom is still enjoyable, but he is usually pulling my arm to leave when I am not done browsing. 😉

On Saturday night, I had some girlfriends over for drinks and games. We grabbed dinner beforehand at one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. It’s a sports bar/restaurant kind of vibe with a fun atmosphere. Their menu has just about everything under the sun, and everything I have tried is seriously amazing! And I have already tried a lot of things. Ha! Yesterday, Tom told me all the funny stories from the bachelor party, and we spent the day going for a walk, catching up with Big Brother and relaxing. Pretty standard Sunday!

Tomorrow’s the first day of my new job, which is really exciting, but also a bit nerve racking! On that note, I am going to go start meal planning my lunches for the week and picking out my outfit tomorrow. Wish me luck! 😉

Transition into Fall with a Cold Shoulder Tee

Cold Shoulder Tee | Distressed Denim Shorts (similar) | Red Lace-up Flats (similar here & here) | Black Aviators | Crossbody Bag | Watch | Silver Cable Cuff | Marble Necklace (similar) | Slim Bar Necklace (similar)

I was eyeing the Bobeau cold-shoulder tee from Nordstrom for weeks, and I was just about to pull the trigger and buy it at full price UNTIL I stumbled upon the exact tee for 52% off at Nordstrom Rack! 🙂 Granted, the colors are different, but it’s still the same tee. And I love gray… So it was a big win! The gray, navy stripe and coral are in stock in all sizes online. The cold shoulder detail is very on-trend right now and works perfectly to transition into fall with.

I couldn’t wait to whip out my red lace-up flats again since they have been sitting in my closet all summer. They are just a bit too warm for 90 degree temps and humidity, but it’s finally beginning to cool down enough to wear them again. My exact ones were bought last fall, but I found identical ones from Target, Old Navy and Nordstrom for you guys! They come in a range of colors too, which is pretty awesome.

Have a great Tuesday!

Friday Five: 5 Recent Purchases and Reviews

August 12, 2016

Happy FRIDAY! Woohoo! For today’s Friday Five, I want to talk about & review 5 Recent Purchases of mine…

1. Short Sleeve Striped Shirt: I just picked this shirt up at Nordstrom Rack, and I am so happy I found it! I think it looks identical to the Madewell one that I loved, but I didn’t love the price. This one is sooo affordable! I found it online too, enjoy! 🙂

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in ‘Soft Brown’: You guys know how much I love Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products, as I have been a tried and true user of her Duo Brow Powder and Brow Wiz. I saw the amazing reviews on the Dipbrow Pomade, so I decided to give it a go — Guys, I don’t think I will go back! What I love most about it, is that it applies super easily, a very little goes a long way, and there is so. much. product. Worth every penny! I also like that it fills in my sparse areas on my brows better than the other two products. Win! If you are looking to try this product out, go a shade lighter than what you’d normally do. For instance, I use the Dark Brown duo brow powder, but I got the soft brown in the Dipbrow. It has a lot more pigment, and I am not trying to look like I have tattooed brows! 😉 I use the #12 brush to apply it. (This kit includes the dipbrow, brush & brow setting gel!)

3. Sam & Libby ‘Peyton’ Bootie: If I had to pick one ankle bootie to wear the rest of my life, I would definitely pick up Sam Edelman’s ‘Petty’ Boot in the putty color. I wore the crap out of them over the past year and a half (they go with everything and are so comfy!) and they are still in amazing shape. I had been wanting to pick up a pair of black ankle booties since this past winter, so I was super excited to see that Target came out with an identical pair of the Petty boot in black! Sam & Libby is exclusive to Target, and is owned by Sam Edelman, so they re-create a lot of the brand’s style shoes, but for more affordable prices. They were only $45, compared to $140 for the original Petty boot. I definitely believe the original is WORTH the splurge; I just had to take advantage of the low price, and am hoping they hold up well through the fall/winter season!

Side note: I still have and wear (all the time) a pair of Sam & Libby gladiator sandals that I got 2 years ago, and they have held up super well!! I have high hopes for these booties. 🙂

4. NYX Matte Lip Cream in ‘Stockholm’: I love the look of matte lip creams, but haven’t made too many purchases on them. I am still dying to try Kylie’s matte lip kits! I just hate paying shipping costs… feels like such a waste of money! Anyone else agree? I just can’t justify buying when I can’t try it or return it for free in case I don’t like it. So, after hearing about how great NYX matte lip creams were, I made a trip to Ulta. I picked up the shade ‘Stockholm’, which is a midtown beige pink, and I am super happy with it! It looks beautiful with the NYX Lip Liner in ‘Ever’. I learned about this combo via byobeauty.com (love Courtney!) It stays in place while eating/drinking and lasts super long. Not to mention, it’s such a great price!

5. Knit Open Front Vest in Gray: I picked up this vest during the #NSale, and while I know it’s no longer on sale, I still think it’s worth it’s full price! The gray sold out super quick and is finally back in stock. I actually had to call a Nordstrom in Florida to ship it out to me since it was sold out everywhere during the sale! Such great customer service though, and they had no problem doing that for me. Another reason why I love Nordstrom. 🙂 It’s no where near cold enough in Minnesota to wear it yet, but as soon as summer ends, I know it will be heavy in rotation. It’s super versatile, and looks great over a basic long sleeve shirt, tunic or flannel!

Any requests on what you’d like to see/hear for future Friday Fives? I love hearing from you and getting some fresh ideas! 🙂

This weekend is going to be a doozy! It’s jam-packed with fun activities, like a bonfire tonight with some close friends, another bachelorette party for a longtime girlfriend of mine, and ending it with a baby shower for my beautiful friend who is expecting her first. So much excitement!

LOFT Friends & Family Sale: Office Wear

August 10, 2016

Happy hump day! Today is the first day of the LOFT Friends & Family Sale, where everything is 40% off, including new arrivals and Lou & Grey!

I rounded up 18 of my favorite office wardrobe pieces from the sale that will be perfect to wear to work during the summer-to-fall season transition. I am always pleased with my purchases from LOFT, because their pieces are made of such great quality. Furthermore, you can’t beat the prices from this sale! I included some sleeveless/short sleeve tops can be worn now, and then layered with a cardigan when it gets cooler (especially if you work in a cold office).

In order to get the most use out of your office wardrobe, stick to a neutral color palette. Neutral pieces are the most versatile, and your co-workers won’t notice that you just wore those pants or that cardigan a couple of days ago. You can always play these pieces up with pretty accessories, like a statement necklace or a fun bracelet stack!

What I’m wearing in the fitting room  Peplum Top & Chino Pants

I’ll definitely be making some purchases for my own office wardrobe, since I will officially be working in an office setting in less than two weeks. Speaking of which… I am very excited to announce that I have accepted a new position at an advertising & design agency and beginning a brand new career! 🙂

For those of you that don’t know me, I have been a teacher over the past few years. As fun and exciting the teacher life is, I have learned that it just wasn’t a setting that I want to continue to be in the rest of my life. Ever since starting this little blog of mine, I have been seeking a new position where I can use my writing, social media and design skills, because I enjoy everything that has gone into building The Styled Press. It’s so much fun for me, and I truly think that I am meant to be doing this kind of work. So, yay! I am beyond excited to begin this new chapter of my life. 🙂

Have a wonderful Wednesday, and thank you for reading!

Denim Vest | White Pleated Tank | White Distressed Denim | Cognac Saddle Bag | Cognac Sandals | Aviators | Tassel Bracelet Stack | Lokai Bracelet | Silver Cable Cuff | White Nail Polish – ‘Alpine Snow’

White and Cognac is one of my favorite outfit color combos.  I added my tried and true denim vest to add a little more interest, but I would rock this outfit without it, too! I went with a white on white look and added cognac sandals and a crossbody bag to bring it all together, which are both under $50!

This weekend I had another one of my best friend’s bachelorette party, and it was so much fun! It was a beautiful day to do a pedal pub & bar hop together. Have you guys ever been on a pedal pub before? It’s actually way harder than it looks, and you get a pretty decent workout doing it! But it’s such a blast. I am hurting a little bit today, though, and not because of the actually biking, but my butt bones are so sore from the bike seat! It literally hurts to sit down. Haha! It was all worth it though. 😉

I hope everyone has a fantastic day! Not all Monday’s have to be bad. 🙂

#NSale: Buy Now, Wear Now (and Later!)

August 4, 2016

Happy Friday-Eve! The #NSale is coming to an end, but there is still 4 more days to shop the sale before the prices go up! I did a little browsing on what was left in stock (so much sold out so quickly… but not surprisingly!) and I found so many great items that are still available and super affordable.  I also took those of you who think it’s too early to shop fall/winter into consideration! Every one of these pieces you can buy now, wear now, AND wear later. 🙂 Who doesn’t love versatile, year-round pieces? You’ll definitely get your money’s worth!

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Instagram Recap

August 1, 2016

Shop the Look:

At first I felt a little weird wearing my hunters with shorts, but it was raining and hot out! I actually ended up really warming up to the combo afterwards… what do you guys think? 🙂

Shop the Look:

This denim vest has certainly got her wear this summer, and she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! Literally goes with everything!

Shop the Look:

This stripe swing tee is one of my favorite tops I own! I always have to ask myself when I last wore it to make sure that it wasn’t like, yesterday. Ha!

Shop the Look:

I went a little crazy with accessories this day! But I’m feeling it.

Shop the Look:

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I love the crap out of my Loren Hope Iridescent Small Sarra cuff. I received the blue one in my latest Rocksbox and I jumped for joy! Prettiest and coolest bracelets ever, next to my tried and true David Yurman cable cuff. Use code ‘taymbrownxoxo‘ for your first box of designer jewelry free! It’s so much fun to receive 3 new pieces a month, especially if you are like me and get tired of wearing the same jewelry all of the time.

Shop the Look:

PSA: I found TWO identical pairs of red lace-up flats for super affordable prices! I linked them in the widget above. 🙂 Last season, my exact red flats sold out right away and it was near impossible finding another affordable option. So shoutout to Target & Old Navy coming through!

Shop the Look:

I will never get tired of peplums OR these lace-up wedges. Ever.

Shop the Look:

My favorite type of outfit. You can never go wrong with a flowy tank and distressed denim.

Shop the Look:

I was so happy when I found this camo tee for under $15! There was one that I wanted that I saw on Shopbop, but it was over one hundred dollars, and so that just wasn’t happening on a simple t-shirt as this. This one is seriously identical!

Shop the Look:

Oh, hello again my beloved denim vest. My exact dress unfortunately sold out, but you could check the sale rack at your local Old Navy! I got it this summer, so it’s still pretty recent. I linked up a similar one in the widget above.

Shop the Look:

So I just bought this shirt Friday, and I had to control the urge to buy all the colors! It’s only $20. I have been wanting to purchase this exact top in another color for double the price on Nordstrom’s website (here), but to my pleasant surprise, Nordstrom Rack had some of last year’s colors available in the exact same top! And I love the gray! It’s available online in all sizes. 🙂

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done an Instagram recap, so I’m excited to get this post up today! My outfits are slowly transitioning to fall, even though it’s still super warm here. I couldn’t wait to whip out my red lace-up flats and my darker wardrobe pieces!

This weekend we had my dad and my step mom visit, and we had the most delicious brunch at a local restaurant called Three Squares that is about a mile away. Tom and I can’t wait to hit it up again… I am still thinking about their chicken & waffles! SO GOOD, guys.

Anyway, Monday calls… time for another cup of coffee!

July 29, 2016

Time is ticking away and items are selling out like crazy, but you still have until August 8th to shop the #NSale! If you didn’t already know, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale also includes home items, and darling home items at that. I rounded up my top 15 favorites and they are ALL under $50! (And all in stock. 🙂 )

Rug: This rug comes has such a fun & unique design. I also love that it’s neutral, so it will look great in just about any room!

Latte Bowls: These bowls are thebomb.com. I have a set that I got from Anthropologie, but I had no idea that they sold them at Nordstrom, too! I will be ordering these… you can never have too many cereal/yogurt/fruit/veggie/snack bowls, amiright? 😉 And you get all of these for only $20. They also come in pretty mauve/blush shades and gray shades! Be sure to check back if your color of choice isn’t available. Nordstrom has been restocking items throughout the NSale!

Marble Serving Tray with Rose Gold Hardware: Have you seen a prettier serving tray?

Marble & Wood Paddle Serving Board: This would pair beautifully with the tray! This would also look nice leaning on your kitchen counter.

Gold Hexagon Mirror: I love gold accent mirrors, and the shape of this one is really cool.

Shaggy Plush Throw Pillow & Denim Pyramids Throw Pillow: Love both of these pillows separate or together!

Cocktail Shaker: Love the rose gold/copper!

Faux Fur Blanket: Fur blankets are the BEST blankets. Sooo cuddly soft!

Diamond Straw Basket: Such a cute straw basket! Would look great as a blanket, pillow, plant or even toy basket if you have kiddos! Diamonds also come in different colors.

Monogram Moscow Mule Mugs: If you don’t like Moscow Mules, we can’t be friends. All jokes aside, every hostess needs a set! Plus they just look so cute. AND they are monogrammed!

Monogram Wine Glasses: I prefer drinking out of stemless wine glasses, anyone else? And these are monogrammed, too!

Fondue Set: Mmm, fondue! I’ll be right over.

Wicker Picnic Basket: UGH. This is just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen and I need it. I would cry happy tears to see a couple picnicking with this.

Archipelago Signature Soy Wax Candle: These candles are highly rated by their scent, longevity & ingredients. They feature a lead-free wick and premium wax blend with essential oils.

Nordstrom is killing it in their home department, and you cannot beat these #NSale prices! Psst, these would also make wonderful gifts for your bestie, Mom, sister, brother, Grandma, aunt, uncle, me.

Happy FRIDAY! Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Summer Casual

Orange Blouse | Distressed Denim Shorts | Sandals | Cognac Saddle Bag | Sunglasses | Watch | Blue Jeweled Cuff (in my latest Rocksbox! Use code ‘taymbrownxoxo‘ for your 1st box free) | Silver Cable Cuff

Nothing says the weekend like distressed denim, am I right? I love the distressing, wash and length of these shorts, and they go with everything! The orange pintuck swing top I’m wearing really attracted me when I saw it online. I don’t wear a whole lot of color, but there is something about orange/red-orange that I just really like in the summer time. I also picked up this top in black, because I thought the pleated detail and slight cropped cut was so cute! (Side note: don’t put these blouses in the dryer! I definitely shrunk my black one… oops! 🙁 )

This past weekend I celebrated my girlfriend’s bachelorette, and it was so much fun! So much fun that I was hurting a bit on Sunday… I miss the days when I wouldn’t wake up with a hangover after a night of a little indulging!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely Tuesday!
