Espadrilles are so perfect for the spring and summer time. They are comfortable, light weight and so stylish! I found these lace-up ones at LOFT, and I think the stripes and lace-up detailing are so adorable! They happen to be on super sale for Memorial Day weekend, along with my beloved ruffle hem top. It comes in 3 different colors, and is on crazy sale for under $14. I am pretty tempted to buy it on the other 2 colors!
I teamed up with Trish Allen Photography to shoot two different summer looks, and I am so amazed by her talent! She not only has killer photography skills, but she is also the sweetest and cutest girl! We found out that we had been living in the same apartments (with the same door number), we both just moved into a new house in the same town, AND have a bunch of mutual connections. How crazy is that?! Anyway, if you are looking for an awesome photographer in the area, I highly recommend Tricia. 🙂 Stay tuned for the other look that we shot… I gave a little sneak peek on my Instagram!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend! We are headed up north to spend some time with family. I wish the weather was going to cooperate… we are supposed to get rain every day! It should still be a fun weekend though. 🙂
Happy Hump Day! It’s time for the Nordstrom Half-Yearly sale! Nordstrom sales are always my favorite, because they have everything, a lot of inventory & restock often, free shipping (huge win for me) and have such great customer service!
Top (again… told you I’m obsessed) | Pants | Flats | Necklace is from my latest Rocksbox! Get your 1st box of designer jewelry free with code ‘taymbrownxoxo‘! It’s seriously the best, and it feels like Christmas every month. 🙂
Happy Friday, loves!! Today begins a new series on the Styled Press called Friday Five! I will be sharing 5 items, whether they be fashion, beauty or lifestyle-related that are seriously worth checking out. I won’t be posting this every Friday, just occasionally. 🙂
Stripe Dress: Everyone needs a striped t-shirt dress for the warmer seasons. Comfortable and cute, and minimal effort in making yourself look put together. Love the criss-cross detail on the back of this one.
Self Tanner: Now that the weather is getting warmer, we are starting to show a little more skin… so let that skin be bronzed (without harmful UV-rays!) I pulled out one of my favorite self-tanners and was quickly reminded why I love it so much! My routine with this tanner is showering and exfoliating at night, applying the self tanner (with the mitt), and then rinsing it off in the shower in the morning. I love that you can rinse off the tanner smell and then apply your moisturizer of choice (here’s mine) after drying off!
These tanks rule! I have black one and am thinking of picking up the white for summer. They are cute alone or under a cardigan/jacket/blazer. And the back strap detail is so cute!
This is the perfect neutral tote to carry around this summer. And it’s super affordable!
The moment I saw this dress, I knew that I absolutely had to have it. And just a few days later, there it was in my mailbox. 😉 The fit is fantastic, with the feminine drop waist skirt and the comfortable shift-style. The combination of the adorable polka-dot pattern and dance floor-ready fit make it the perfect wedding guest ensemble! It can also be dressed down with some flat sandals or ankle booties to achieve a more laid back summer look.
The inventory on this dress is restocked at both retailers frequently, so don’t fret if yours is out of stock! Just keep checking back. 🙂
I felt like a million bucks in this outfit — not only because this dress rules, but because I had the best heels ever to wear with them! These lace-up, gladiator block heels go with literally everything and they are ACTUALLY comfortable! I wore them all night long, even while I was tearing up the dance floor. 😉 And I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to heels because of the comfort factor, let it be known.
Have a fabulous Thursday! I just finished my parent-teacher conferences last night, so I feel like a free bird! And the weekend is almost here. 🙂
When it comes to home decor, I am attracted to the more neutral and light pieces. Don’t get me wrong, I love fun, bold pops of color in a house; but for my own, I am pretty neutral and use bold colors sparingly. 🙂
As we put our house together, I have been on the look out for cute home decor pieces! These are some of my favorites that we have either purchased recently or may be adding soon!
Where are your favorite placed to shop for home decor?
I am in love with this adorable blush, dotted peplum tank! It looks adorable alone, or under a light cardigan or spring jacket (like this denim one). It’s currently on major sale for under $30… and it’s originally $50! They are running out fast… so hurry! 🙂
I thought my rose gold Kendra Scott earrings from my latest Rocksbox went beautifully with it! I normally stick to stud earrings, but I am swooning over these pretties! I am also obsessed with my new lace-up block heels! They are adorable and actually comfortable! I wore them all day/night to a wedding recently, and didn’t even feel the need to take them off. AND I was tearing up the dance floor. 😉
I hope everyone has a nice weekend! We have been so busy moving and unpacking, and it seems like it will never end! I’m happy to have a pretty open weekend to tackle the rest and finally get organized. The mess is driving me CRAZY! #typeAprobs
After years of trial and error of trying many different hair products, I have finally settled on a routine that works for my hair in keeping it healthy, shiny and voluminous!
First, a little background on my hair…
My hair has always been pretty healthy, thick and grows with no problem, even after many color treatments (mostly dark brown until the past year). I definitely have noticed a little change in the health of my hair after getting blonde balayage a few times, but it’s overall pretty healthy. The main struggle I have with my hair is getting volume and keeping volume, so I have fallen in love with a few products that help me achieve that, as well as keeping it strong, NOT brassy and healthy!
Shampoo & Conditioner // I only shampoo and condition my hair about 2-3 times a week (one tip for keeping it healthy!), and I currently use Biolage Colorlast Shampoo & Biolage Hydrasource Conditioner regularly. I love the smell, and they do their job! Every other wash, I will use Unite Blonda Shampoo Tonic to keep the blonde in my hair from getting brassy and orange. This stuff is AMAZING! I noticed a difference after just one use. If you have blonde hair, highlights, or gray hair, I highly recommend this product.
Pre-Styling // Do you get tangles and dread brushing your hair post-shower like me? If so, the Unite 7seconds Condition Leave-In Detangler will change your life! It not only detangles your hair, but greatly detracts from the damage (split-ends, breakage, brittleness and frizz) that your hair suffers from color treatment and styling. This product contains a blend of moisturizers and proteins which benefit your hair 7 seconds after application (hence the name)! This means less stress and strain on your hair, and less risk of damaging the protective outer covering of your locks! Bonus: The formula also keeps your hair hydrated while using hot-tools and provides protection from UV exposure to keep the hair healthy when you’re enjoying fun in the sun!
(Please excuse my nails… I have been busy painting and moving, okay?! 😉 )
To brush my hair, I SWEAR by The Wet Brush. The combination of Unite 7seconds and this brush literally leaves your hair tangle-free.
After brushing out my hair, I give my roots a little boost with the help of Unite Elevate Mousse. A small, golf ball-sized amount creates volume where I need it most!
Styling // At his point, I either let my hair air-dry or blow dry it with the Conair Infiniti Pro Dryer. If I’m wearing my hair straight, I don’t have to use a straightening iron when I blow dry it; but I do have naturally straight hair. I will either use the NuMe straightening iron in the morning if I air-dry, or curl it with the Hot Tools 1 1/4″ curling iron (my favorite way to style my hair!).
After my hair is styled, I will massage my scalp with a very small amount of Unite Expanda Dust, which is a volumizing powder for your roots. It gives instant volume and texture that lasts all day (and sometimes the next day!). I will either sprinkle a little on my fingers and massage my roots, or very lightly tap it directly onto my roots and massage. A little goes a very long way!
Finishing Touch // Finally, I will finish with the Unite Texturiza Spray, which gives my hair instant fullness, added volume and texture! This stuff is the bees knees. It is also a thermal and UV protector.
And voila! You’re have healthy, shiny hair that will hold all day long. 🙂
HEY MINNESOTA READERS! – I teamed up with the lovely ladies at Poppy Salon in St. Cloud to let you know about an awesome 3-day sale that they are having this Thursday, May 12th through Saturday the 14th, including ALL of the Unite products I mentioned! Get 20% off all products and double poppy points for hair appointments! Call 320.774.1029 to reserve your products and/or set up an appointment, and let them know I sent you. 🙂
Hi guys!! I am so excited to finally announce that Tom and I closed on our first home this past Thursday! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I was a little MIA over the past 4 days, so here’s your reason why. 😉 We are so excited. We spent the weekend doing a little painting (holy cow, painting a room is no joke! Especially a kitchen!), moving in, and multiple Target/IKEA/HomeGoods runs. We were very fortunate to receive help from our families and friends, because we would’ve gotten nowhere without them!
I am really looking forward to decorating and showing you all around my house! I love home decor (I pin like crazy on my Home Ideas Pinterest board!), so I definitely will be adding a new section to the blog specifically for it. 🙂
I hope all of you mommas had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday! Thanks for stopping by!
