HAIR TUTORIAL: T3 Cascading Waves Wand

Hey guys! I’m thrilled to be bringing you a highly, highly requested post: a hair tutorial for my everyday waves! While I occasionally rotate the barrels on my T3 base, my Cascading Waves wand has been on repeat. The Cascading Waves wand is extra unique, because of it’s reverse-tapered design. What I really love about this style wand is that it helps with volume on the top parts of my hair (my hair totally lacks and loses volume here quickly!), and leaves a beautiful curl that lasts for days. And if you follow me on my Instagram Stories, you’ll know I like to drag out the time in between hair washes quite a bit… 🙂

How I use the T3 Cascading Waves Wand

TIPS:

  • Always use a heat protector! I used this blow dry primer before blow drying my hair. If I don’t blow dry my hair, I will use a little of this spray bit of (a little goes a long way) on my dry hair before curling.
  • If you are working with 2nd day hair or later, use dry shampoo on your roots. A serious game changer! Not sure what I would do without it… My favorite dry shampoos are here, here, and here.
  • Spray a bit of hairspray before curling to give your hair some texture and grip to help hold your curl.
  • Curl your hair away from your face, to create a natural, beachy wave. Once in a while I will curl a few strands towards the back of my head in the opposite direction for variation, but never for the hairs that frame my face. No, no, no! It just looks awkward and unnatural, unless you are going for retro curls.
  • Don’t be afraid to brush out your curls! This is one of the most important steps in my hair curling routine. Brushing them out (lightly) is what gives them the soft and relaxed look. Start from the bottom of your hair to prevent snarls and breakage – and like I said, brush lightly through.
  • Use texturizing spray to finish your look! The Oribe Texturizing Spray is GOLD, my friends. Gold. And it’s about as expensive as gold too (lol) but I promise, a little goes a long way and your hair will smell amazing! This step helps finish and lock in your beach waves, and gives them a little extra volume.
  • Use some root lift spray if you need help achieving more volume in your roots. I use this spray on my day one hair (when it’s super clean and I have a hard time getting volume). Use very sparingly! You will only need about 2-3 sprays. If you go overboard, your hair will feel dirty and tacky. I spray this stuff under my bangs and under the crown of my head. I’ve also heard great things about this product (same purpose and use the same way as the one mentioned above). I ordered it so I’ll keep you posted on what I think!
  • If you are working with dry, dirty hair, I like to finish with this dry conditioner spray on my ends. It really softens them up and makes my hair feel clean and adds a little shine!

If you’d like to see a video tutorial of me curling my hair with this wand, I invite you to check out my “HAIR” highlights on my Instagram profile! I filmed some clips of me curling my hair with this wand last weekend while I was getting ready for an event. My hair was a little longer when these photos were taken, but I do the same steps with my shorter hair. Enjoy! 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to visit me today! Until next time —
